Certification

In South Africa, the N4-N6 Hospitality and Catering certifications are part of the National Certificate (Vocational) program, designed to provide students with industry-relevant skills and training in hospitality management and culinary arts.

  • At this level, students learn the fundamentals of hospitality, including food preparation, housekeeping, front office operations, and customer service. They gain knowledge in hygiene and safety regulations, basic cooking techniques, and hospitality management principles.
  • N5
  • Building on N4, this level covers advanced culinary skills, restaurant management, food and beverage service, and event coordination. Students learn about menu planning, cost control, and kitchen operations in various hospitality environments.
  • N6
  • The final level focuses on leadership in the hospitality industry, advanced catering management, and strategic business operations in hotels and restaurants. Students develop expertise in food science, hospitality marketing, and entrepreneurship, preparing them for supervisory and management roles.
